Rocket running poorly, suggestions welcomed

Something I always wondered with the pod type filters. If they are all the same size you will get less fresh air into them from front to back. So the middle cylinder theoretically should run more rich than the front and the rear even more so.

Could be the "issue" with the spark plugs

Yeah, I forgot to ask what plug went where. I kind of thought I was only going to make it 10 miles and have to go back.

as it turns out they forgot to put my plastic frame cover back on after the cable work so I’ll be going back in the am.

I confess that the plugs had 25K plus on them.

I’ve been meaning to replace the fuel filter as well. In fact I bought a new one in 2014. Maybe I’ll try and fix the float as well as the low fuel light comes on after 55 miles.

Never had a issue with the fuel filter on the Rocket. I change it out every 20,000 miles. The Harley was a different story. Went about 25,000 and had issues at low rpm's and low speeds. We have very dirty gas here in the southern half of Oklahoma.

Glad it was only $180 fix, could of been much worse.

I was scratching my head to figure out how you guessed the repair cost so closely. DOH, then I zoomed into the photo of the plugs. I didn’t know my bill was in it.

I’m running Power-Tripp Jardine 3xK&NRU-2780a in that bike. It ran fine and I never got it tweaked as no one in my area knows how to tune a Rocket.

As mentioned, I did switch out the 2780’s for the RC-3680’s last month. I didn’t notice anything except more sweet engine racket.

I do think two of the coil wires were loose AND the battery wires were an issue.

It ran good the short distance before the plugs were replaced but maybe the hesitation would have come back.

I was actually very lucky the two plug sockets DID NOT work. If one had, I probably would have pulled two easy-to-get plugs and chances are they would not have been the oil rich black ones.

At that point I would not have replaced them and went down other dead ends or gotten frustrated and had the dealer in Pompano send a truck.

That means I wouldn’t have made Key West for my birthday sunset and taken these freaky pictures for all y’all:
