'05 & '07 Rocket III, '96 Goldwing, '95 Virago
The '07 Rocket that I recently acquired has a generally noisy transmission, compared to my '05, and has 2nd gear issues.
I plan to take it apart this winter and replace any needed parts. However, looking around, I noticed this ad on Ebay....... 12 Triumph Rocket III 3 2300 Roadster transmission perfect condition | eBay and was wondering if the transmissions are identical/compatible between my '07 and this '12 (?) Thanks for any info. or advice.

I would take the trans out and send off to Robinson to do there thing, they make circlips bigger, they have a billet 4th gear, they back cut and polish, new shims if needed, and any gears needed Robinson would get, and anything else needed. I would buy new selector forks, change oil gaskets on shifter shaft, red loctite shifter shaft bolt on reassembly. If you gonna do yourself new circlips, whatever gears are messed up, you said 2nd, its sometimes a circlip jumps out and problems, dogs, spacers, and you still wont have a back cut trans and really wont know about 4th which is also a weak link. Just a few things off top my head. Lots of info on site in search box. Knock it out and drive it like you stole it.

I appreciate both Kevin's & atomsplitter's advice. I'm not a transmission expert but have had various auto and motorcycle motors & transmissions apart and have managed to repair most of them. I would love to be able to afford to send it to Robinson, but unfortunately don't have the needed cash to do that. I will have to do the best I can "on the cheap".
I do plan to replace anything that it obviously worn or broken, and for sure replace the circlips. I've watched all the video's that I can find on the Rocket transmissions and will read all that I can find on this excellent forum. I will report my progress once there is any. Thanks again for your advice. ;)

The full Robinson works for me earlier this year was $999 delivered back across the pond a few weeks later.
In terms of what you get vs the $380 or so for the standard used trans in the link, it's a no brainer really.
Robinson def the way to go especially if your current trans is not broken just a bit wonky.
