Roadster rider going Tourer

Happy with a 07 Classic.

Saw an 08 Touring purchase prospect. Anything special from this year I have to worry about? It looks like it developed a busted detent spring and was dumped at the local bike pound. Bone stock, 32k mi, no rust or corrosion anywhere.
 
Buyer beware with what you just wrote. Detent spring is not a big issue if that truly is the issue. Otherwise, the '08 R3T is as good as any other year. No ABS till the '14 model though.
 
That's not a good sign, offer him 1/4 of the asking price then
 
Bike started well. Shifts into gears but, gets a false neutral when downshifting, every time. There is resistance to the pedal shifter. True Neutral is hard to find. Front brakes don't work well. My R3 stops well. Hummmm?
