Riding in the Heat

I looked at these before, a good idea but I really don't see much of a comparison. $250 gets one set of packs. With the Veskimo any place that has Ice and I'm back to 100% effectiveness. That's every time I stop for gas.

Doesn't it say on their website link provided by @R3Tex

whatcha doing up near my woods?going to get any closer?

Yea I'm going right through your town on the way to Telluride. My daughter is getting married there. I thought I might send you a pm to see if you are on your days off when I come back through on Sunday or Monday to stop somewhere And meet you for a cup of joe. I will be short on time but I'd like to at least shake paws with ya

I was actually looking at buying a veskimo last night, I sent an e-mail to the manufacture about what jacket it would work best with. I also found there's another company KewlFlow that sells the same setup. pricing seems to shift back and forth depending upon what reseller you buy from or if you buy direct, but the kits appear identical only branded differently. I can tell you that the riders I know in Houston say the evaporative vest or phase shift vests don't work. Apparently relative humidity plays a big factor in those working. Being that I ride about 6 days a week 20F to 100F, I consider it an investment into my safety.

Sorry, yes, comes with one spare set.
How do you keep these cold on your bike?

Not saying it's a bad product at all. I'm sure there great for a day ride. Just don't see the comparison.

I carry a soft side cooler on my back seat that has the spare set of cool packs on ice. When I stop for fuel I swap them out. The expended ones go on ice to recharge and the cold ones go in the vest for the next leg. Takes about 2 mins to change out

I rode with a guy last year from Mexico to Canada on an ironbutt and he was using an evaporative vest...and he suffered. Don't get me wrong...NOTHING will keep you as cool as the AC in your car, but the vest I use keeps my core body temp down so I don't feel like passing out from the heat and it works with any overgarment without hoses, pumps, etc

Tell you guys what...I will do a full product review on the Texas Cool Vest on my website and throw up a link here so you can have more than a few posts to effectively evaluate it. Not saying it is the perfect answer for everyone, but it does work as advertised.

ime of recent playing -

Something with cooled sleeves would be a plus. NOT just a vest. And higher collars make a BIG difference to the cooling effect.
