Removing the secondaries on a stock rocket

I am running a few other HP add ons but the 245 Cooper isn't nearly enough. Just twisting the throttle breaks her loose. I can't imagine with just a mc tire on back and the GIPro set on 3.

Why remove the secondaries when with Tuneboy you can set them to open to 100% the moment you shift into first gear? Mine has been set up this way for three years. To prove it to myself I removed the k&n's for cleaning and with them off started the bike and slipped it into first. The secondaries open completely and there is no way they obstruct airflow anymore than the bar that they are attached to. So why bother removing them? You will need TB anyway if you want to truly bring the potential out of the r3. I also run a PCIII since I haven't been able to find anyone capable of dyno tuning with TB.

Because some of us dummies would rather ride. I don't enjoy wrench twisting anymore nor fret with the hassles presented by a TB. Also, your last sentence sums it up.

To remove some weight? :D I didn't know you could do that with the tuneboy and now that I do the secondaries will stay on. When this thread started I wasn't going to get the tuneboy but I have not been able to get my bike running properly after the oil tank fix, and am going to need the diagnostics to pinpoint what I did wrong in the reassembly. Plus, the Rocket is a keeper for me and I see myself needing the diagnostics in the future anyway.

What series Zeon are you running, Ken?

And then there are some of us who like the plug and play way to go ... PCIII's no secondaries and a GiPro (exhaust and triples too). I watched my secondary throttle plates while riding, open, close and open part way again, that was it ... I unscrewed them and got rid of the computer thinking it was running the show. If need be, I can just put everything back the way it was when it came out of the box by taking a few things off and putting a few back on. I havn't seen anything that surpasses the stats it has shown, both on the dyno or the track to sway me in another dirrection. I just know that I don't want to fool with the ECM since just bypassing it worked so well. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate those who are into using software and laptops to reprogram and alter the bikes brain, I just thought it best for me, especially for resale ... to leave the stock bike intact under the mods should I choose to sell it one day. I know if I were in the market for a used bike, I would feel better buying one without a lobotomy. :p lol

There's no reason to remove the secondaries with Tuneboy since you can open them 100%. You can get a lot of fexibility out of the custom tuneboy tunes out there. It's true its very difficult to get someone to dyno tune with tuneboy bit if you have a PCIII, get the closest Tuneboy tune in there and have the PCIII dyno tuned to fine tune it. Best of both worlds.

There are four different varieties/tread patterns available in the Zeon family. The 2XS, the LTZ, the ZPT and the Sport A/S. Which one are you running?

Wrong. Before buying a tuneboy I decided to take off the intake system again and check around, turns out one of the MAP sensor hoses was disconnected. Bike runs great now, and best of all the oil tank leak is fixed. It is amazing how crappy the bike ran without that one little hose connected.

What a hassle, but at least I got some education out of it.
