Ramair + crankcase pressure = blown cam cover gasket?!

Seems my mod that redirects the crank fumes back into the middle throttle body isnt that crazy after all, had a good look into the in take chamber and those ports were same condition as the others

And do you have a little pod filter on the crankcase breather or is it still piped up to the airbox?

Yeah he mentioned it in post #1.

I have one as well with three K&Ns filters. I've never been a fan of that little pod filter. It just sits there with crank case gases just floating around trying to get out the pod filter. Needs to be hooked up to the intake somehow to suck the gases out of the crank case.

Nope that's not crazy that will work just like the OEM intake..... the way it suppose to be.

Drag cars ( some not all of course ) have a inlet on the exhaust header down next to the collector where a hose is attached going to the valve covers. With exhaust fumes rushing by the inlet a vacuum is created and pulls the gases out of the crank case. Therefore the gases don't go through the engine but pulled out with the exhaust.

I have run the K&N little filter for over 50,000km with no issues but having replaced my own rocker gasket when I bought the chrome cover, I noted that the gasket washers under the bolts that hold the cover down tend to loose tension and need to be tightened down again after a few heat cycles

I am not willing to believe the filter is causing problems at least not until you pull it and inspect it to see if it is clogged. I do believe the OEM air filtration did help scavenge the crank case gases from the engine much like Fred's and Wrecka does. I do think the gases which might be low in oxygen should be dispersed between the three throttle bodies to cut down on detonation. I know you can not feel it detonate so it must not be? Well if you have forced air you would feel the detonation much more but that does not mean it is not happening.

Now back to the gasket I have created a bunch of crank case pressure or at least enough to stretch the head bolts and blow the water pass the radiator cap into the over flow bottle yet if I kept the boost low I could ride for hundreds of miles and never lose any water. But hey once above 10 psi it was a different ball game. I have spit two oil caps off at speeds considered illegal and yet never popped a cam cover gasket. Yep and I do mean creating crank case pressure.

When the RamAir kit is purchased they send a filter to attach to the crankcase venting port of the engine.
