Quieting down the Jardines or switch??

I also have Jars and have removed the baffles thinking they needed repacking to quiet them down some just to find out that they didn't need to be repacked and they were just going to be loud. The whole reason for the Jardines is the horse power increase. I have heard that the TOR's with cat delete will produce about the same horse power as the Jars. I have heard the TOR's and really like the way they sound. They have a nice rumble at idle or normal running but sound great under hard acceleration.
If I were going out to replace my stock exhaust today, it would be with the TOR's. But thats just me. A lot of guys like the sound of the Jares. My boys will ride my bike sometimes and they both say that running down the road, it sounds like a bunch of pissed off BEES inside there helmet. When the bike was on the dyno being dialed in. A bunch of Harley guys came up and one guy said that it sounded like a Dodge diesel to him and I have had several guys tell me that.
Oh well to each his own. Maybe some day I will stumble onto a set of TOR's for a good price and I will probably switch them out and try going with the TOR's.

Hmm, I wonder if I could get a set of TOR mufllers and put them in place of the Jardine mufflers and keep the Jardine header. Hmm!!

Big T

I waited until I heard others pipes. I have the TORS now and they are not uncomfortably loud ( not a distraction) at highway speeds.

Thanks for all the insight guys and for saving me the hassle of pulling the baffles out!!! I guess I will stick with the Jardines...

Steve,

I took D&D's off my bike last week and put on Jardines, Jardines have a muck deeper tone. When I ride alone I'm fine but everytime my girlfriend rides with me it changes the air flow around me and the noise goes straight into my full face helmet, I've tried earplugs, doesn't help, sometimes makes it worse somehow. Only thing make it any better is when I open my face shield and leave the air blow in, so I'm gonna be experimenting with some baffles to put in them to change the tone. if i get something you may be interested in I'll let you know,

Thanks
John

Thanks Seeya...You bring up a good point...I was most uncomfortable when I had a passenger as well...I noticed riding yesterday (solo) that it was not as bad...Guess ill be riding solo more often!

Best...

I found some baffles for the Jars, 2" x 14", left the orignal baffles in "if you want to call those baffles" and slide these ones inside, made a big difference @ idle and running, still running the Jardine tune, actually feels beter than before. Don't have that loud rumbling noise in my helmet anymore. Found the baffles at an old custom bike shop that I go to once and a while. You could probably find some on the net somewhere.

I definately thought the stock pipes were too quiet, you could hear all the engine noises over them. There would be no way I could stand the noise triple K&N's make with them. I had D&D's for awhile and thought they were a little quiet as well with the baffles in. But with both baffles removed it was too loud and sounded like a Cessna 152 flying by. Removing just one baffle had a good sound, I was happy with the volume and tone ... but I just couldn't live with the left side of the bike left naked with nothing at all over there, the drive shaft and pinion housing aren't very attractive. I really like the triple TOR's ... they sound great. Can't complain about them at all ..... except .... the Roaster came out and I like the look of the dual FATTIES better. Now I want a set of Toaster TOR's ........ never satisfied!

Just got happy with the Jardines but I really like the looks of of those fatties also.
Like you said "never satisfied"

Great news on the baffles Seeya...Pardon my ignorance, but, did you install the other baffles in front of the Jardines? Didnt happen to take a pic did you?

Thanks Again...
