Ok folks question, my rocket s running rich again, did I mention again? I'm thinking of putting a power comander on it, I'm tired of taking it to the dealer to adjust the fuel mixture. Guess the question is will putting a Power comander on it make it possible to adjust it?? Never went down that route before.

The way I understand it, the PCV with auto tune will do it for you. Several here (Skip fer instance) like the Dobek unit for auto tuning.

I have now had my PCV with AT for quite a while now and wouldn't be without it if you do decide to I have a AFR Map(which I have now sent to quite a few members now) I have put together to give the best of both worlds the PCV with AT was tested on an 09 model so when ordering make sure you tell them it is for an 09 otherwise they will redirect you to the PC3 which you will need to have the bikeset up on a dyno and it does not self adjust like the PCV with AT. The fact of the matter is and a couple of us had it confirmed by DynoJet techo's that it can in fact be used on all models because esenitally they all use the same ECU (including the 09 STD) untill the Roadster and the Touring models.
if you decide to go the PCV + AT drop me a PM with your e-mail address in it :)

Oh and the Dobeck does not Auto Tune it basicly means that you can tune it similar to a good ol carbie and while very good it is not as acurate as the PCV +AT which constantly moniters the exhaust gases and adjusts the fuel mixture accordingly to maintain the the best fueling:cool:

Dobeck's a lot cheaper than PCV + AT, is simple and effective and I like it. But you can do a lot more with the PCV, if that's your thing.

Hanso,
A Triumph fnewgi here. I have a PCIII on my V2K, but, am confused by your "PCV with TB" comment. Is Tune Boy the stock system and a PCV operates concurrently with it?
Best Regards,

Ok I am guessing there's a couple of typo's there but here is my best effort to answer you a PCIII works like the dobeck in fact they were both invented by a guy called dobeck but he sold the rights to the PCIII to dynoJet then later on bought out the dobeck
The PCV or power commander five is the lastest version and requires a dyno run to set up correctly unless you get the AT or auto tune this devise plugs into the PCV and also to a wideband O2 sensor to read the exhaust gases and then give the PCV the info so it can correct the fuel mixture constantly as you ride a bit like being on a Dyno all the time

TuneBoy on the other hand is a special coded cable and software that you connect to the bikes diagnostic plug and alter the triumph programming in The ECU
Then there is TuneEcu which is free apart from a $20 WV/Audi diagnostic cable and it does almost as much as the TuneBoy
A few of us use TuneECU or TuneBoy to set up a good base map which corrects the timing advance and a couple other setting then we also use PCV with AT to look after the fueling

I hope this has cleared it up for you

Well it certainly did for me.
Dobeck is Cheaper, better (IMHO) and allows you to adjust it
to YOUR optimal riding style.
There is 3 buttons to push, (not all at once).
Bigger one in the middle is "mode" other two either add fuel or subtracts fuel.
8 led light settings to let you know exactly where you are in your fuel mixture,
and 6 "modes" to choose from.
Sounds complicated with buttons, lights and modes,
but it ain't, it's simple as pie.
If the bike hesitates hit the mode button,
depending on where she hesitates,
at idle, cruise, or WOT.
The last three modes are the "switch points",
or the time it takes the electrons to get engaged once you romp on it.
About the thickness of 2 credit cards held together
and about the same size.
It's plug-n-play and you can adjust it for any combination of parts
you may decide to put on later.
No canned tune or CD to keep up with like the PC3.
No computer to hook up to your bike like tuneboy, or TuneECU.
No extra cable to buy, Nothing, just plug it in and ride....
Used in conjunction with the Gi-Pro w/ATRE and Car Tire, I like mine.;)
But your results may vary, opinions too.
Good luck whatever you decide on.
ride safe.

BTW, the dobeckperformance.com unit I have is a couple of years old
and no problems with the EFI control unit itself so far,
I did get a little drunk here awhile back and thought I'd "juice her up"
and had it totally screwed up, but it was an easy fix.
Mine is the Generation 3.5 but they have a new Generation 4 out now.
They also give a veterans/military discount if that applies.
Hope this helps.

Ah yes the Dobeck is better because it is cheaper that the PCIII but neither of them are as acurate as the PCV wth the Auto Tune it is like haveing a little guy:D in there constantly pushing your buttons ALL the time to give the Optimun fueling ALL the Time according to the AFR Table you are running in it:cool: and you don't have to change anything if tomorrow you put a different exhaust on or change anything for that matter as it is constantly sampleing the exhaust gases to detremine the correct amount of fuel you need to achieve the AFR you are asking it to run to, my AFR table map will work with any system or configureation and I set it up so if you ride sedately it will give optimun economy but twist the throttle and it goes like a scalded cat:D

That's interesting info on the Dobeck Skip. Mine must be an older one again as it has three screws. Really simple. It was cheap and I'm wondering if I was sold old stock. Anyway, it works and I'm very happy with it. One day I might 'upgrade' to a PCV 'cos the AT sounds great, but I still like the simplicity of the Dobeck.
