NEW PROBLEM

I just removed the battery, the cables were tight. The battery was installed 11/21/2014 so its 3 years old. My voltmeter needs a battery so I can't check it yet. Will get a voltmeter battery in a few hours. I am going to measure the YUASSA and see if I can get an ODESSY battery the same size, if not I will buy a new YUASSA today.

It's a size 20

if you like the odyssey brand I run a PC680 in there (great battery ) and priced reasonably all you have to do is shave the ribbing and it will fit in . the last one I had was good for 5 years sold the bike and it probably lasted longer

I didn't get albertadukes message in time so I went to AutoZone and bought a size 20 battery with 310 CCA compared to 270 CCA on the stock YUASSA battery. Anyway the bike fires up instantly and the check engine light went out so all is good. Thanks for the replies. Dave

Dave I have noticed when trailering my Rocket from higher to lower elevation and back again that it will idle and run a little crappy at first. It is the elevation change that does this. Let it run and give it a little time at the new elevation and all is good in a short time.

Having 5 tagged motorcycles, a riding mower, a tractor and a gas golf cart, I have bought several different "trickle" chargers/tenders. I have found most to not be very good. Even with a new battery, most times I have to give them a hit with a real charger, for 5 or 10 minutes, to get them charged up enough to get going. What brand of "battery tenders" do you guys use?

Well, I know there is a thread around here somewhere, about parasitic drain. I just disconnected the positive lead on my hardtail project, and put a volt meter between the connections, and got 12.6 volts, with nothing turned on. Got 13 volts at the battery. Tried to measure the output of 2 different tenders, and got zero, but once they are connected to the battery, the voltage at the battery went to 14 volts and after a few minutes, dropped to 13.2 so my tenders have to have some voltage to begin with, or I guess they won't put out, kinda like some X wives I had! Off to search for the drain threads........
