Since I have Ramair the second battery is in the airbox. Its much needed, I ride it even if its freezing and with one battery it often did not start. Not a problem now.
- I haven't tried starting mine in freezing cold, but with enough amps in the battery there should be a possibility of trying several times. But I mainly bought my Shorai (their largest model) because it handles winters better - in storage, that is. Almost no self-discharge, so it won't sulfate and thus last years longer.
However... this (or something along those lines) might be a solution to the "oh no, out of power again" issue:
