Found out today that the detent spring broke for sure bad news it is on back order and triumph won't cover it after a 08 model unless it is still under warranty

Wasen't that a problem in 2004 when the first 800 Rockets landed here?
3 to 5 years to redesign a spring???
Come on Triumph, I will buy another one when ya get these things fixed.
I lost track of Spike again. Any body seen him??

Nice looking bike!

Sorry Rainman, just caught this thread. You seem to be onto it though. Here was my discussion: http://www.r3owners.net/common-issues/12026-jumping-out-gear-help.html?highlight=jumping+gear

Triumph (Aus) covered mine as a goodwill thing. Don't leave it to the dealer to follwup. Give Triumph a call yourself and say that you can show (on here) plenty of examples of the spring failing and it's clearly a design fault (or weakness at least) and that it would be the decent thing to do for them to cover it. Guy here told me it should only be an hour's work if done properly so don't let your dealer tell you it's a full day or that engine has to come out.

Good luck with it.

Jay what is the problem here:confused: does Wendy not have the same type of bike that you have, well take the one from her bike" problem solved":D(do not let her read this I will deny everything.)
How much are the springs?

Well it's already to late Dave she probably already read this they say the sting bout 4 dollars and of course u know how high labor is but at least my extended warranty will be paying for it

Just completed the detent job on my bike, spring is on backorder till the 25th of this month. Called around and found one in Ft Worth. Easy job if you do it yourself. I've already preordered the parts to do the job again, just incase. Also ordered the clutch shaft, I've already gone through 2 of those.

Talked to the service manger Saturday and said should have my bike back this Saturday can't wait to get it back
