It's not actually 'dead' Tony - the bike didn't blow it - he 'bricked' it - http://www.r3owners.net/threads/i-really-need-help.22405/

The problem is that he cannot communicate with it, neither by TuneECU nor by the Dealer Service Tool.
But Technically, that is not 'blown up'.

2012cliff - you have three different threads you started on this subject - it would be easier for everyone to follow the story if you kept it all in one thread

Here is the third thread in the series (in addition to this one plus the linked one above)

Want to say thanks for your suggestions. I'm heading out to garrage to try again. No internet in shop. I'll keep you updated on this thread. Thanks for noticing

Sorry to see that you find my opinion stupid, I actually find your response rude and ignorant . Never said I would not trust a new ECU from Triumph , I wouldn't want to have to spend the money is all really, much rather buy one off of EBay with PayPal and if it did come bad , would allow PayPal to refund my money , which they are very good at. At least I would have that protection which is more than I have seen some of the dealers provide. To be honest my opinion is because of the service departments around here , I am sure that there are some good dealers out there but we sure seem to be severely lacking of any around here.

Not saying your idea is stupid but one thing I might add is any labor or parts that are purchased via a credit card have protection with the credit card. If your not given the service due or the parts are not working contest the charge via the credit card and they will refund you they charges. Just did it myself when mine wasn't fixed as was told it was.

I would buy one off of ebay , I have a very hard time trusting any dealer !

Get over yourself. You typed those words initially and the meaning is pretty clear. Now your response makes you look even sillier. Grow a set mate.

Oh my, what a journey! Well a used ECU arrived and after 15 min. the bike was running. Used my lonelec cable to read the map from the [new] used ECU and it is the 20258 program. I think I'll go for a ride before I mess around again.
Any suggestions for a new program? Is there anyone interested in playing with my old ECU? I'll pay the shipping or maybe go for a ride.

On the TuneECU site, under obsolete 3/4 cyclinder tunes, 20258 is for the R3 Touring with aftermarket TOR mufflers. You have a Roadster, correct?

Ouch. Which back tyre were you using? Did it blow out because of a puncture or because it was worn too much?

I am assuming that you are okay as you are still riding, but were you damaged much?
