Glad to hear that you are O.K.
I had a rear end incident some years ago, the scary bit was/is that you don't have a clue that it's coming !
Your sitting there (on ya bike) minding your own Business, then wham ya just get nailed ! Not nice.
Anybody who knows me knows it like to be tail end Charlie of any group, where I can keep an eye on the other riders ,I have often sat back and watched Boy racers and sometimes seen them bring their mates undone,
The grey Fox has lived longest has seen it all
Hate it when I open these kinds of posts especially when they are written by a third party or friend of the rider on their behalf. Glad YOU are able to share your experience and to see that you are on the mend. There have been some good suggestions from the fellows going forward. Winter is coming, so don't give up on the Rocket just yet. Take some time, fix the bike then when next spring comes, hopefully you'll have that renewed desire to ride. After 30 years, it's hard to give up.
I'm also very glad you survived this with less than serious injuries. Here's to a speedy, full recovery. As for your ride, she's still a beautiful bike, and that color scheme...mmm
Glad to your ok sounds like this could have easly been alot worse...Bikes are replacable...
Dont be throwing your helmet away yet brother once a biker always a biker. You'll find you will be sitting at the table one day then suddenly your right wrist will start rolling back then the front of your left foot will kick up..
Bikers twitch we cant help it, it's what we do...

Good luck with the recovery, sadly soft tissue injury can be worse than a broken bone when it comes to full recovery. Hope you end up with a better bike than before after compensation with insurance etc. Live to ride another day.
Glad to hear your mostly OK. Like others have said, give it some time before you make such a big decision. Also don't let the insurance thieves low ball you
