Time to remove the motor and replace the old stator/alternator

Ouch ! Unless you love to tinker, have plenty of room and tools and are just looking for a reason to do major work on the bike.

The Rocket is a relatively easy bike to work on if you're going that route, and you'll save a heap o' money if you do it yourself, though you didn't say.

Have you done the tests so beautifully outlined by @DEcosse so you're sure of the electrical behavior and most probable cause ?

Please keep us posted as you proceed.

Yes unfortunately, ohm to ground all three leg. Hurray for me

I'll get to put it up on the operating table after work tomorrow, I'm going to watch how to do it on Discovery tonight. I'll be an expert then.... Right

Don't forget to remove the Temp sensor which is screwed into the rear of the cylinder head before you lift the Chassis off the Engine.
If you don't, you will break it.

Well its started,put the old girl on the operating table gave her some anesthesia and out she went. I'll start in the morning.
