Hey gang,

Quick question for the team. How does one remove the rear brake light lens on a 11 R3T? Do I have to unbolt the whole assembly from under the fender or does the lens pop off? The lens doesn't seem to have any play so I am guessing I have to unbolt it.

Thank you,

Paul.

If it is anything like the others. The lens is GLUED to the rear light assembly.

WHY do you want to remove it?

In advance - sorry but yes! - I have been drinking.

The manual doesn't talk to replacing the lens, and the parts fiche only offers the lens assembly.

So if you need to do something with the lens off the bike, the book answer is to unbolt it.

On non-touring bikes it can be popped out, it's held in by plastic tabs.

Touring I cannot say, have not held one in the hand.

On mine (2009 standard) it most certainly was not. The lens was well and truly glued.

Maybe roadsters are different - if so that's a plus.

Un-glueing requires immersion in "close to boiling" water and a lot of gentle persuasion with a wide but thin probe.
The light unit itself is held on by three M6 bolts.
