longer range cruising needs...

PHIL and I tested the 1600 BMW and didnt like it I really wasnt impressed at all and have no desire to own or ride one again

Well, the test bikes weren't set up all that well. For criminy's sake, the dealer didn't even know that the seat height was adjustable.

It is a quick bike with some impressive engineering, but, for me, it was totally soulless, primarily because it is over-engineered with all sorts of gadgetry that doesn't add to the pleasure of riding.

Too each their own, I say. The Bimmer has its place and fills all the needs and niches for those that prize them.

WELL all the hype about the BMW and it was a letdown Soulless it is.

Simular to my riding buddies new Honda FB6 mini Goldwing, great sterio, big panniers, screen and fairing, the seat is superb BUT no soul it is like an electric bike and looks like a jet ski give me my Touring anyday

You want to complain about a rough ride. Go out and buy A Harley softail that will hook you right up.

I disagree.
Broke down on my V2K in Winemucca, NV back in 2011.
Rode home to WA doubled up on a female friend's Softial.
She even let me drive! Once I became used to the severely restricted lean angle and downshifting for hills, twas actually a very comfortable ride.

YEP like having a pebble in your shoe LOL

My 2010 Fatboy is not comfortable at all. I have done a lot of modifications to the engine and it is one very rough ride. Sure for a Harley it has a lot of power but it will vibrate the fillings out of your teeth. After riding the Rocket X there is no comparing the two.
