I'm glad you're okay. The bike can be fixed.

However, you do need to analyse what you did wrong, so that you don't do it again. It may have been (and probably was) a combination of several things, but you will need to address them or the same thing may happen again.

I laid down my 06 R3 and totaled it and me. For her replacement I specifically purchased an 11, so I would have ABS on my fat bottom girl, and I believe it was money well spent. I would not sell a good bike that did not have ABS, but I would also not purchase a new one without it...

Any crash you can walk away from, is a good thing...

First of all glad you are okay now let's see if we can prevent this from happening again, you were on base so you were not going to fast?
I was not present but what you did wrong was release the rear brake thus causing the snap back into line which threw you off the bike in lay mans terms you high sided if you had kept the pressure on the rear brake you would have had a chance in keeping the bike upright or at least low siding the bike at a reduced speed.
Guys practice practice practice I do this stuff week in and week out as an MSF instructor but still have a skills day once a month with my local club you have to build up that muscle memory.

Was driving on post and driving down the road. I hit the brakes maybe a little to quickly and locked the rear wheel. The back and front end swapped position and threw me about 5 yards two small spots on me but the left side of Wally didn't do so well. The left fog light is toast. Windshield is scratched. Scratched the hell out of the clutch handle as well as a Big gouge on dresser bars and the badge above the dresser bar is thrashed. I think drivers side foot boards are a bit bent as well. I also scratched the hell out of the lid of the bag. I'm guessing I'm well over my 500 deductible. Good news is that it's all cosmetic and the tank and fenders are fine. No real point to this post but a mini rant.

You dont want to stomp on the back brake if your stopping quickly all the weight transfers to the front wheel and the back wheel can leave the road surface

I locked up the front wheel a couple of times on my 09 standard, managed to stay with it, more luck than skill
Don't like rider modes or electronic suspension, but I like the ABS on my Roadster, I think it's worth having

Glad it wasn't worse. Not having ABS on my '05 is the only thing I don't like about the bike.

So I'm kind of confused. Insurance adjuster said 3500 but dealer won't even get it on a lift until Saturday the 5th. You would think for at least 3500 a business would move a little faster. Am I allowed to change the mirrors and or the paint or do I have to take it back to stock?
My advice is bike wrecks should be avoided I'm gonna be on 4 wheels for a while.

Getting up after that, first checking to feel that everything is there, no big blood, no big pain, look around for traffic to see that I'm not about to run over by someone not paying attention, then the embarrassment sets in.

Been there, done that -- though not on the Rocket thankfully.

Two wheelers go down sometimes -- the circumstances vary -- but they go down.

Yes, best that you're o.k.

And yes it can be repaired.

And yes, please discuss with a trusted soul who knows about motorcycles -- members of this forum fit that category - just sayin' -- and truly learn from the experience. Tis said we learn most from our mistakes, and you want to take maximum advantage of this one.
