Awhile back there was a post going about installing under tank K&N's . Someone wrote that they cut a hole in one of the filters and installed the air temp. sensor there. I can't find that post now. I wanted to read it again. Mine runs a little stumbly when I take it out of the warm barn and ride it in the cold air. It's like it takes to long for the air temp. sensor to respond. Putting it in the air stream makes good sense to me. I wanted to see how that was working out. Anybody know what thread that's in ?

Not really appropriate for the triple filters I wouldn't try cutting one!!! . My sensor sits between the first & 2nd filter zip-tied to the frame rail.

When I ran triple k&ns,one post and several guys, put a small hole on the middle rubber filter top, pressed the sensor in and sealed it up with a liquid sealer, did this when I was running them, might have made a difference.whatever you do try not to handle the tip end of the sensor, might get damaged.

You can cut a hole in the top of the filter and use the grommet from the intake tract to hold the sensor in place. I did that for awhile and then picked up another filter and moved the sensor between the first two filters. Using a Scangauge there isn't a noticeable difference in intake air temps between the two setups. If you're experiencing poor running, I'd suspect something else is wrong.

Thats where mine is mounted as well. I've only noticed it when getting it out of my pole barn. It's well insulated and stays about 15 degrees warmer than outside. The bike acts like it's a little lean and stumbly until it warms up a bit. I suspect it takes that sensor a while to respond to changes in air temp just kind of sitting there inside it's little filter. Were it in the actual air flow it seems like it would respond faster ? (cutting one in an elevator is kinda fun :) )

got mine just behind the first filter and seems to be no problem (not sure if the wires would be long enough to put inside the first one)

Yeah wire length limits.. I remember one post that said they'd cut back the loom a few inches to access more wire length.. Personally mine runs fine where it is.:D

If you ride up in the hills at 6am in winter, yeah, weve ridden in 3 degrees C . 4 hours later it'll be more like 20C tho.Daytime Winter temps close to the coast up here are usually in the low 20C most days, with a warm sun.( you'd sweat sitting in sunshine between 11 & 3pm)
