Installed the Big Boy filters!

I s'pose it's something that we don't often think about, but filters do have designated airflow ratings, and one that's too small could restrict an engine in much the same way as a too-small exhaust.

Pipercross website www.pipercross.net lists what power output each filter will support. Interesting.

So going from 2780's to 4040's is going to change the amount of air ingested by the hungry cylinders..... new tune or re-map?

Did you do that Bones? Or stick with what you have for a tune?

A straight stack is where it's at... for each throttle body... if there was a way to keep the crud out......

That Ram Air from Carpenter's Racing seems to have fallen to the wayside..... I guess that it's not proven enough...

Yeah it does hit the knee:| but thats why if you look at the picture, I cut the claw with a tight fit to the rubber top. It wedges & locks it in place & supports the filter very well.

looks good blasted !!
have ya thought bout cuttin tha lobe off of bearclaw at front fer cooler air on backside a' filter too ??
as is ya also suckin in hot air from motor on backside.

I only fitted them last weekend, so more cutting is an option, but I was leaving a protection plate for rain/stones. Saw someone did drill the frount of the claw with tiny perfs for more flow.... might be a plan. Still.. on the road the air swirling around a moving bike should clear engine heat away, with it as open as it is.

if ya dyno feller has good wind/fan flow over bike --maybe just take claw off fer one run--look at #'s----afore ya commence cuttin !! ha!

best i remember--k/n has sock that size fer rain ???

Maybe!! Don't know. You'd have to find out the flow ratings of the two filters. Possibly the smaller ones MIGHT be adequate for your power output.... possibly not.

Or you could run it on a dyno filters on/filters off. That oughta tell you????
