Increasing power and newbie questions

Welcome from Virginia ! You've come to the right place for things and people ROCKETS.

Might I suggest you spend at least a couple of weeks poking around on the site -- there are many thousands of posts here, with a richness of gems. Also look at the media where there are many examples of handiwork with the Rocket.

After that, then feel free to ask about things you have and have not seen.

Please keep the rubber side down, and look forward to your participation.

My suggestion is to ride the bike as is for a few thousand miles. Break it in hard so you can get a feel for the power of the stock setup. Once you get comfortable with it, then the pocketbook is the limit.....

Oh, welcome to the site from Northern Ontario.

Cool! Thanks for the info! I dont think I would put a sc on this system but I'm always curious. Also another question I have is if I were to get a carpenter kit installed lets say the 240 hp package for example, could i still use this bike as a cruiser and take trips, ride around town etc? Or is this going to cause problems, are there problems/downside to know about with upgrading to carpenter? Thanks again

At 230 HP and the proper exhaust upgrade you can add the wing kit and fly the thing..................Welcome from Indiana.

Welcome to the site from sunny Southern California! Where are you from?
Your initial power and sound upgrade path should be:
1) Remove the stock air intake system and place a filter right on the throttle bodies. Popular filters are (3) K&Ns, Ramair, and others.
2) Replace the entire 1-5/8" exhaust with one from CES (1-7/8", Australia), Reband (1-7/8" Australia), @Paul Bryant (1-7/8" New Zealand), or Carpenter Racing (2" New Jersey).
3) Get the bike dyno tuned using TuneEcu (or at least put in a tune designed for a '16 Roadster with those mods using the TuneECU Lonelec cable).
Doing all three together will drop 50 lbs from the bike (heavy cats in both mufflers), eliminate the factory lean running conditions, sound awesome, and give you a smooth 155 rwhp and 155 ft-lb tq. Don't do one until you're prepared to do all three.
So is this accurate info? I can loose 50 lbs by replacing my stock exhaust?

What year is your bike ? You might add it to your profile - look in the forum "Introduce Yourself !!" and see the sticky there.

And not to be snippy -- if someone writes "If you crack two eggs and scramble, then add 1 cup of flour, and cut with a teaspoon of baking powder . . ." -- I would be taken aback by the person who says "Wow, great biscuits from one cup of flour -- is that accurate ?" Just sayin . . .
