Newbie wanting to purchase r3!

I drive a 2020 TFC model with a few miles on it. I don’t recall, 15K ? Miles . Runs good and is very quick and fun, fun, to ride. It ain’t no Harley tourer or Softail as far as comfort ride but a great day bike. I think they are solid and would not be overly concerned about a few miles.
I agree- I picked that because of the 20k service interval, which is costly. There are many below that many miles because people are afraid of the power. That's how I got mine at less than 300 miles.

Roxanne is now at 46k, never in a shop except for the rear brake MC recall, and going strong.

awesome! That’s good to know. My wife is super scared of me getting a bike again, we have three small kids, but you gotta live life too right?
I normally don't side with the wives, but you might consider having your three small kids grow up before you start living again. I mothballed my first street bike to raise our children and my youngest helped me unmothball it and encouraged me to pick up my first rocket. Your kids will grow up fast - enjoy the ride!

I hate to disagree, but if you've had a lay-off, or not ridden a lot, I would say get some serious refresher/advanced training. |t's the best insurance your family can have.

Everyone thinks they're a riding god and don't need additional training ! That's bullsh*it - and too much testosterone speaking. I was out on my 16th birthday, and ridden ever since. The last 20 years or so as a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists/Motorcyclists and I have to say that I have never enjoyed riding so much as I do now. In my local group we are trained to Police standards using the Police System of Roadcraft, and we even train the blood bikers ! I'm proud to say that I have 54 year No-Claims, and I ride like everyone is trying to kill me. Don't think for a minute I'm slow ! - you'd have a hard time trying to stay with me !

On the subject of small kids, I solved that by taking my one child with me ! - he's 32 now, but used to ride with me everywhere after his legs were long enough to reach the footpegs (at 4 or so). He grew up around cars and bikes, and is now a terrible petrol-head. I can't imagine where he get that from 😮

On the subject of bikes, being tall - I think the GT would be for you, with the forward foot pegs. I'm 6'1" and forward pegs is what made me to decide on the Gen 2 Rockets, bringing back for memories of my original 2004 Classic Rocket 😎

Hey y’all! Want to get into riding more, and definitely loving the r3, especially the Evel Knievel edition, but wondering what the best way to get a value bike would be? What’s the oldest you’d go in an r3? I see 2019 is the first new year, are there any words of caution?

I’m 6’5”, 29 and pretty hefty, and have driven mainly road glides and a few sort bikes just for a trip. Thanks s in advance everyone!!!
Have you ridden any of the Rocket models? I don’t think this has ever been mentioned.

You really think 250,000 if you keep parts good on it?!?!? That’s crazy!
I don't think it, I know it. I met IDK some years ago in Topeka Kansas when he was returning to Maryland and his old Rocket III had about 220,000 miles on it. Those original bikes had 8:1 compression ratios (tractor engines), the Gen 2 bikes are higher compression but still under stressed.
