Here in England we can now only mostly get E5 Petrol. I cannot see a mention of this in the manual so is it safe to use in our rocket 3 motorcycles? My other bikes can use up to E10 petrol.
Does anybody know for certain?

My Owner's Handbook says:

Fuel Grade
This Triumph motorcycle is designed to run
on unleaded gasoline with a CLC or AKI
octane rating of 87 (R+M)/2 unleaded (91
RON) or higher. Federal regulations require
that pumps delivering unleaded gasoline are
marked 'UNLEADED' and that the Cost of
Living Council (CLC) or Anti-Knock Index
(AKI) octane rating is also displayed. These
ratings are an average of the Research
Octane Number (RON) and the Motor
Octane Number (MON).
Note:
• If 'knocking' or 'pinging' occurs at a
steady engine speed under normal
load, use a different brand of
gasoline or gasoline which has a
higher octane rating.

I don't know how this equates to E5 and E10. My impression from threads I've read about recommended fuel grade is that it is best to run the highest octane you can get. Here in the States that means, "premium" or "ethyl" or "high test", which is usually somewhere between 91 and 93 RON.

No advantage to running higher octane than recommended, but that said, the local station sells ethanol free premium, I run that down here just to avoid the ethanol. Usually premium is the only ethanol free available, but a place in the next town in NY has 89 ethanol free, if I happen to be going by I fill up there.
