While all the sitting, was the tank full, or empty ??? Glad you posted this as some people might not know how those hoses deteriorate so badly.

Always had some gas in it and used to start it every now and then, the assembly has cleaned up nicely, that yellow stuff is just like a fine powder few wipes and it is gone

The gas we're getting now-a-days, has a lot to be desired. I'm lucky to be able to get ethanol free in my area, but it ain't cheap!

Cleaned up the assembly and cut the filter for a wee look

Be very wary of those cheap Ebay Chinese fuel pumps. Myself, I would pay up for the oem or a known quality brand product. Nobody wants a premature fuel pump failure and the grief it can cause...

Yup, my original John Deere fuel pump lasted 20 years, then 2 Chinese pumps in 2 years, well, that was a lesson, back to OEM 5 or 6 years ago, still going strong.
