2020 rocket 3r
Hey everyone just posting this to help someone out. there are old threads about this but here you go. My 2020 r currently has 50k miles on it. Bought it 4 years ago with 740 miles on the clock so 99% of the miles have been put on by me. The bike gets ridden hard. Track day, tons of miles ripping spiritedly in the mountains and hills, long trips, work commuting, tons of rain rides, hot Texas summers sitting in traffic, cold weather. The bike has only ever had 3 problems. 1. The stupid key fob has been the bane of my existence since day one of ownership. 2. Dead battery about 6 months ago. 3. The other day I had just finished a spirited ride in the twisties and felt the bike hesitating and sputtering badly at about 5k rpms when I tried merging on the highway to go back home. Once I got on the highway I cracked the throttle again to reconfirm and yep. I thought maybe one of the wires on one of the coils popped off as they don’t snap on very good as it is or maybe a plug wire backed off as they too don’t snap on much at all from factory. Then I thought about it and if those were the case the bike would have been running like crap at all Rpms. Then I thought I bet that **** fuel filter is clogged. Made it home and took the tank off. Low and behold I broke the **** plastic fuel fitting that connects to the fuel rail. I was so mad. I ordered a couple off Amazon. Got them in and they didn’t lock onto the barb on the fuel rail. After doing some more digging online I found an old post that mentioned Dorman part number 800-186. Local part store had it in stock. Comes in a 2 pack. Worked perfectly. Best part is it doesn’t have that stupid locking tab that triumph puts on theirs from factory. This one can use a pair of needle nose or your fingers to easily remove it. I changed the fuel filter as well. Sure enough the **** thing was clogged. took the bike for a blast and All is well. No more hesitation and that fuel connector works fine and doesn’t leak. Thankfully it came in a pair so if it should break again I’m covered. $27 from the parts store for the pair. Hope it helps! Love the rocket. It’s a Swiss Army knife and a fantastic bike. Thankfully mine has been rock solid for the past 4 years. I don’t see myself getting rid of it but if I ever did the only two bikes I’d consider would be a Ducati diavel v4 or a gen 2 vmax
