The cush drive cushion is inside the wheel if it were to disintegrate it would stay inside the wheel.

u sir r correct unless something is coming apart which is not likely.
warp is there a rubber boot at the front of the drive shaft tube that might tear up and work its way down and out of that hole?

There is a boot but no way for it to go thru the ring and pinion to get to the hub spline. Only thing I can think of woul be the bearing seal right at the hub. But with piece coming out I'd say there should be a big oily mess and dound like a coffee grinder .

Gary ,yer gonna have to remove the wheel and tell us what you see mate.

Well it is still leaking, after a 1 1/2 hour ride in 35 deg Celsius.
Dropped it off at the place that did the tyres, I feel they may have damaged something when re installing the wheel.
We will see.

Don't worry, I will let all know what is found inside!

Okay, the plastic part of the housing had been damaged. Oil seal replaced and all good.
No obvious damage to the oil seal.
Thinking it was the shop that made the first attempt to replace the tyres, but all good now.
