Dreadful footrests position on Roadster

Thanks for your picture and input. This is why I like this forum so much. A lot of helpful riders here. I am glad I am not the only shorty on a Rocket. The photo I posted is from Rockethead's bike and he has the same foot rests mounted to the lower foot control mounts. It looks like it is pretty adjustable forward and aft. They also look a lot more secure than the Triumph or Rivco sets. I am not opposed to the engine guards I just dont have them on the bike. And honestly I am not sure I want to add them. I do want to add a good set of highway pegs that work and like 1obull said aren't too close to the factory set of controls.
 
I have the RIVCO pegs and mounts on my Roadster and they mount on the peg rails you dont need engine guards they look great and work great and are fully adjustable to your liking and are very nicely made out of billet aluminium and chrome plated

Pretty sure he was speaking of the Goldwing style mounts that fit on the peg rails.
I too have only a 30" inseam and prefer the engine guard pegs, which I have set where I can rest my toes on them and heels on the boards -
The most comfy position for me.
 
Ya Bull the Gold wing style mounts I seen on Dave's bike look much better then the Rivco brand. Mine is set much the same way. I can rest my toes on them and heels on the floor boards. Or just the pegs, and also I can open the switch blades to rest both feet in. I never had the engine guards on the falcon because they are in the way of the air intake from the blower. That and money spent on go fast bits was the priority. After all the floor boards were quite roomy.
 
I have discovered how limited peg clearance is on my 2010 Rocket Roadster today riding the Cotter Rd and Uriarra Rd a few km from home in Duffy. Plenty of extremely tight 30-45 kmh recommended speed corners and not only ground my peg extensions but the base of my std pegs as well after the pegs extensions were ripped out and ground the thread so none left to refit new ones.

Am I over riding this bike or has my 13" Progressive rear shocks and rear Bridgestone Exedra with extra .5" sidewall height with the stock Avon front tyre reduced my ground clearance?
 
Well, I would say that you are riding a cruiser not a sport bike. I am not sure of your lean angle in the turns you describe. However with me the same roads I am scraping the R3R pegs on I dont even come close with the ZX10. But those same roads on the Springer and I am scraping more than the R3R. Ground clearance, corner speed, lean angle, bike type, you know those types of factors make a big difference. It sure is fun though, isn't it?
 

I know your pain and have found it extremely strange that Triumph chose to design the Roadster as an agressive street fighter, moving the seat position forward and all, yet reducing the lean angle to less than the Classic and Standard models.
Stupid, stupid stupid!
Put on some Standard model boards and most lean angle dragging in corner issues will go away. I ground a chamfer onto my pegs and frame bolts.
Even some engine casting was ground.
85% better now, plus old age is slowing me down . . . some.
