Darkside rubber

My mistake I need to read closer. Your 245/50/R16 is going to be to fat, I have the 225/50/16 and I have heard the the 245 wil hit. My advise is change that order. the 245 is plenty tire, unless your on a ego trip. I read where the 245 would hit both the shocks and the drivshaft, no personal experience on that...Sorry

Thumbs up on the 180 rate. That 245 will put more ground patch than a HD rear ever thought about.

I run the 245/50/16 rear at 48. The front at 36 and that works well. As the price of gas goes up I might try 50 and 38! Who is going to be the first to try a car tire on the front of the rocket?

Well . . I have read that a few have used that tire. The one that convinced me was Cadfather but he was sporting a Toyo . . . size is size I assume. I hope it fits cause its on the way. (Bwahahaha)

i'm just experimenting. i'll be looking for handling characteristics. i do have say that there is nothing wrong with a 225 configuration. i've ridden a 205 on a rocket in city and short highway bursts. it is a significantly easier tire to use. i am wondering how it'll do on fast sweepers at the lake. i know it doesn't grip as hard as the 225, so we'll see how it turns out. i find your views on the center rib to be interesting. that does seem to make sense.

6 months later, mol, my 225 Cooper 2XS shows no sign of wear with 8k on the clock. The handling issues are in fact no longer issue at all; it's all second nature these daze.

I've got 19,500 miles on the Goodyear now. I'll change it out this winter it almost down to the wear bars.

What size is your Eagle? And trouble mounting or balancing it?

225/50/ZR16-F1.... I had to cut off the metz but the goodyear tire shop mounted it. I didn't balance it a first but added balancing beads later. I'm so happy with the miles I'll toss it this winter just to have the hassle gone for another two seasons.

Gone the darkside downunder

Finally made the transition to the darside, its a Toyo 225/55/16 V rated silicone sports tyre that costs AUD$159, bit over US$105. Our peso exchange rate sucks!. I took the wheel off myself, bought the tyre from a dealer that can't do motor cycle tyres, said they could, so cash and carry. Have a ol' timer motor cycle tyre fit and balance for $10, yeh thats right $10.

To pull the rim of and replace it, you need a good bike jack, which I have as you can't clean a Rocket on its side stand.

The Ride#
A much better, nice soft ride, the cornering is great and it sticks to the road very well. You need more countersteer (forward pressure applied to lowside bar when cornering or about to corner) some on straight and level to counter camber. The power down thing is great, confidence builds after continued use and as I am not evil knieval, I don't go into being the hero. I will try and upload my piccies here but I have got them on my photo site. I'm not a real high techo puter user.

Tyre Rating#
The Toyo has a V rating is about 250Kmh. I can assure you that the under pants rating would blow out long before the tyre will.
