Darkside Mounting Suggestions

Hey, Phil,

Work is a *****, 12 hr days, some Saturdays.
Gonna rain all weekend.
Maybe a month or so.

Thought you were going to forsake the CT cause of the unnatural wear on the sidewalls

I hear 'ya and you have my condolences.

I will more than likely return to a MT due to its riding on the sidewall when pushed hard, however I will keep it sane in the twisties until I can source one for a reasonable price.

No, I detect civility, here.
Good point IMFT about lubing the splines.
I've done it twice already, once when I replaced orig metz with the Avon @ 8k,
again going to the CT at 15K, so I've been on schedule so far.

No clue what the dealer would charge. Phil had it done, tho.

YES its something the riders seem to overlook as i noticed some posts about spline failures I had it happen on a shaft drive KAWASAKI i bought used

Nope, JRock. With only about 5500 miles on my Mulberry Mistress, I have not lubed the splines yet.

I meant you paid to have the wheel removed and replaced when you got the CT.
They should have lubed the splines as part of that anyway, as good practice,
like changing the throwout bearing when you replace a clutch,:)

I HAVE mentioned this to several ROCKET owners and they had no idea they had to lube the drive shaft  when they replaced the rear tire or at all  I even asked one of the dealers and he told me that the shaft splines didnt need it that it was permantly lubed from the factory

HEY dont forget you have to remove the wheel around 8k to lube the driveshaft splines Just cause the tire will last longer you will still have to keep up with maintenance ;)

Could you tell me what page of the owners manual or service manual you got that info from?

Could you also explain how not performing this can lead to a spline failure?

NEVER SAW anything in the owners manual and thats the point BUT if you dont lube the splines they run dry and then wear and fail its been happening on some of the ROCKETS :(
