Anyone have the Triumph classic touring seat with backrest? I have the lowrider and after 100+ miles it starts to hurt. I am thinking of getting the classic touring seat for long trips.

Yes. recently fitted one to mine. I had the separate gel seat and pillion before and "management" was complaining about the pillion!

I have not done any real long rides since but it is definately more comfortable and the support the backrest gives does make a difference. Adust it right and you can just lean back and cruise!

One point on the downside. You need to develope a new technique for getting off the bike. Getting on is fine as the backrest just folds forward as you throw your leg over. However, getting off requires you to either lift your leg somewhat higher than usual or hold the backrest down while you get off. I have opted for the first technique!

I have the touring seat with backrest on my 07 and I love, helps on acceleration and also gives you something to push against when backing up

You said the backrest folds foreward? Is that a special backrest or is that just somepthing I missed while looking at it? Also anybody know if $600 is fair? thats what the local dealership wants.

Yes , if it is the standard Triumph seat with rider backrest it folds forward. It does this against a spring so it pings back up after you have swung your leg over it.

I paid £250 (about $365) for the seat and rider backrest due to Triumph having its factory "sale" so $600 sounds a bit steep to me. There was a new seat (without backrest) going for £75 ($123) the other day.
