are those prices here in Auss or from US
 
Of note is that JW Speaker now do 12V only versions of the 5&3/4" - The early ones like mine are 12/24V.

I've seen 12V only UK spec lights at 179pounds. About 1/2 the price of early ones.
 
The US Postal Service cheapo alternative is pretty reasonable. It may take a few weeks to get there but it's not bad, I paid $70 for a pair of relatively heavy shocks from the US to Europe and I'm sure the seller pocketed some of that... Just have to dig around on their web site to find the cheapest one, they try very hard to obfuscate it and make people buy the cheapo express (not called that obviously...) variant which is much more.

This. Even Amazon does this crap - if you use the One Click option, they automatically select "Standard" shipping instead of their free shipping option. It's usually like $5-8 bucks, but still.
 

$70 sounds VERY fair to me.
It cost me around a $100 USD to OZ each of the three sets of shockies I have shipped down there.
