A year with the Rocket III Touring

Congrats!! Have you done any super long rides with the Russell Seat? I just got mine in November, so my riding time has been limited to an hour at at time. Just wanted to know if it stands up after several hours like it's supposed to.

I have done a few 250-300 mile rides with the Day Long seat. When riding, it is fine. My GF even likes the rear seat. So it's all good.

My wife likes the seat so far too, but we haven't done more than an hour at a time since I put it on. She hated the Triumph Long Haul seat!

I've had my R3T for one year now.
21500 miles.
2 sets of Metzeler 880 Marathons. Even had a car tire on for about 5k miles.
3 oil changes. 3 sets of rear brake pads.
10k and 20k services done. Don't ask how much $$$, it's expensive and I don't like it. But it's the price I pay for such an awesome bike !

Just ride !

So how was the car tire? I am thinking of putting a firestone on next time.

I didn't care for the handling. Especially when turning.
I tried a lot of different tire pressures.
I had the tires / wheels checked and balanced.
Never did figure out why I had a serious wobble at speeds over 65.

Then Triumph announced the tire recall.
I got me a new set of Metzelers. No more wobble.:D

As Daryl mentioned I have the aftermarket Clearview screen, I believe it is the 23" I thought the 25" one might be too tall. The vent works great...I do recommend it if you decide to "experiment" one more time on the screen.

Good luck,

Dennis

On the windscreen topic, I opted for a Cee Bailey replacement. It's the same factory hardware, but a much taller and thicker plastic. They make aircraft windows and use the same aircraft grade acrylic in .187 thickness for their motorcycle replacement screens. I like it because they will custom cut it to any height you want and the edges are polished as smooth as the surface. The one I got is extra tall (I'm 6'2") so I look through it, but the optics are excellent and doesn't distort my vision at all. If you don't know exactly what height you want, they recomend getting one much bigger than you planned and trying it out. They will cut whatever amount you want off and repolish the edges for free (you have to pay postage one way). They also make it in choices of tinting, smoke, bronze, green, blue, light grey and dark grey. I stayed with the clear, 4" taller than stock for $190.

I might at some point get a taller screen. Clearview makes a 21" and a 23" I believe. Maybe the Roadster screen.

The bars need changing. They are a bit too wide and far away, even with the Rivco risers. Some have mentioned putting Harley bars on, but I have no idea which ones. Have to wait a bit for more upgrades........

Having taken a few measurements and guesstimates I have just ordered a set of Harley Road Glide bars which the dealer has said he will exchange if they are badly wrong! will let you know how I get on.
