I have not heard of anyone cutting open the cat to modify them. usually the add the cat delte pictures below.
As for whether you have TORS or not they should have a sticker on the bottom with a part number and marked not for highway use (or something like that). other then that like Hans said they have a 1.25" diameter hole in them verses the smaller one inch.
Oh and as was pointed out do not attempt to load any Roadster or R3 Touring tunes in the ECU as it will lock it up. the Touring 08 and up and the Roadster 2010 and up have different ECU's.
