PS...Goodfellow . No Kind of tire on a R3 will enable it toast a sport bike in the twisty s with the riders havening the same ability. Staying with a R3 on my D12 would be a walk in the park, and it cant come close to competing with the new sport bikes. If they are good riders you are performing some kind of magic....Do you have carbon fiber rims and finders, an maybe a set of rear sets with the forewords eliminated like Gragor's Platatina RS....If so you might have a fighting chance to keep a sport bike in your sites but I still doubt it.
PSS... Can you explain.....When a car tire starts to let go it recovers quickly ...Cuz the Metz has never let go. And it dont drift.[/quote]
yes, that may be so in sharp 'S' turns where light weight and 'flickability' are the determining factors. that's where the rocket is at a disadvantage no matter what kind of tire set up we have. the situation changes dramatically when the turns become sweepers with crosswinds present. this is where the weight and power of the rocket comes to the fore front. Mathis has sweepers and cross winds. any one who rides there knows this.I love that place. It enables me to take full advantage of the rockets handling capabilities and power. they are severe enough, that the turns become all about power and torque. the car tire on the rocket shines in this environment as you will soon see.
40mph sweepers are easily taken at 100mph+ when a lightweight sport bike is struggling to stay on line in a 30 mph cross wind. the straights are short enough so that I don't have to struggle to stay up on the top. It's a perfect environment for the rocket. the pavement is somewhat coarse, this is to the the sticky car tires advantage. you know that when you push hard into a turn and power through the apex, the bike wants to drift to the outside? well, this is much less pronounced with the car tire profile. It bites a lot harder on coarse pavement. The fact that the rocket is a very heavy bike, makes ideal for a car tire configuration. There is enough weight to utilize all of the car tires handling capabilities. So,in closing, there you have it. Yes there are very real limits to the rocket when dealing with sport bikes in "their" environment. But,a rocket,in it's own environment, will show it self to be pretty good company also.I have a lot of respect for sport bikes,I ride one when ever some one will let me. But, the more I learn about the rocket and what it can do in so many different scenarios, the more I come to enjoy it's company every day. This, of course, is probably nothing new to you,as you probably know all of this already. when you get ready to go darkside, let me or the forum know and we'll get it done up right. till then bro,be safe.....
