Wow, just installed my GI Pro

I have it on setting 3 I haven't tried 2 but will do so. The reason that I bought it was that some (Native One I think) said that the gipro opened the secondaries and there was no need to remove them.

NO, it controls ignition timing and the speed limiter only. Removing the secondaries along with the GiPro turns all the control over to the rider and keeps the computer out of the loop. It does not control fuel at all and that includes the secondary butterfly valves which are computer controled and programed to limit power in lower gears. Thats why I yanked them out of mine. Combine the increased timing advance with wide open throttle bodies and look out! It'll lengthen your arms.

They are right in a sense and wrong in another. They must have had a tune loaded that has the secondaries open 100% in 4th gear. This is what the 20222 map has:




Now if they had the offroad pipe tune or aftermarket pipe tune they would be closed as this is what the secondaries do in those tunes:



Or they have the one of the aftermarket/offroad pipe tunes and didn't rev it high enough to see them close as these tunes don't close the secondaries until 1700 RPMs.

Hellfire - Basically make sure you have the 20222 tune or equivalent earlier release tune to make sure they are open in 4th gear. Or just remove them.

Okay so now Im confused Does the GiPro hold the secondaries open in 1-3 gears?
This is how I am interpreting this. 1-3 gears are held open 100% and 4-5 is open whatever % your tune has it. Does that sound right? If not, than is it recommended to remove the secondaries on a stock R3T?

The Gi-pro fools the ECU into thinking it is in 4th gear all of the time. The ignition is only retarded in 1st thru 3rd gears. So by telling the ECU it is in 4th gear even though it's in 1st, 2nd or 3rd, means it works out of the less restrictive 4th and 5th gear ignition map. Same thing for the secondaries. If the map loaded into the ECU has the secondaries open 100% all the way through the RPM range in 4th gear, then the secondaries should be open 100% no matter what gear you are in with the GI-Pro. However, the offroad/aftermarket exhaust tunes for the Rocket (and I believe all of the R3T tunes) have the secondaries closing in 4th gear. If you want to be certain, remove them.

Okay I think that I may have been mis-informed a little into thinking that I could get away with just the gipro alone without removing the secondaries.

I have the TORS tune installed (20226) if I want the secondaries opened in all gears I would have to revert back to the standard tune (20222) is that correct?

Would it be of any benefit to remove the secondaries as well, I am planning on a PC5 sometime down the track.
