what is this mystery connector?

I took off the infill panel that the crankcase breather hides behind earlier and spotted a 2 pin connector that wasnt plugged into anything. It has one purple and one black wire going to it and the 2 terminals in the connector are arranged in a T shape. I have put a picture of it below.

Also, further up on the engine in the same area is a brass fitting with a single wire attached to it and I was curious as to what that was for. Picture is also below.

 
The brass fitting is yer oil pressure switch.
 
something wrong in those pictures ....... it is not raining or fogged out ..... it is England is it not .............. get the hell out of there and ride the bloody thing
