What Happens if....

1. Put a good tune into the ECU with TuneECU.
2. Get a PCV with AT, and a good map for that.
3. Ride.

It is that simple. No matter what alterations you then make to the air filters or the exhaust, you will have the bike tuned so close to correctly that it makes no difference.

I did virtually nothing to my first Rocket, which I bought with TORs and cat bypass in 2005. When Tuneboy came out, I loaded the 20050 decel tune. I tried the triple filters but the Tuneboy custom tune for that didn't work, so I took them out. My current 2007 had Jardines on it when I bought it. It wasn't running right with the 20226 tune in it so I tried a few tunes from other people, which didn't work, and I decided to get a Power Commander and have it dyno tuned. Before doing that, I put the triple filters on, mainly for the kick ass look.

If you're going to install the Dobek, just read the tune that's in it, open the secondaries, save that version, and download it.
 


If it is as easy as what you say here:
"You do have to cycle the ignition off and on after a download, then hit reset adaptations. You can then disconnect TuneECU and turn the bike on and do the 12 minute tune"....
I may just leave it TORS/No Cat - load the 20050 (I have the Lonelec cable) & see if I like that better - Leave Intake alone & RIDE
Is the "reset adaptations" in a place I will need to go to in the program after it downloads? or will it just "pop up box" as a choice?

Did U pull your snorkel off the bottom of the seat?
 
I take it you've gotten TuneECU to hook up to the ECU? I'm using version 2.5.5.1 on a laptop. You will be in Map Edit (upper right bar). When the download is completed, the ECU goes through its startup routine, where you hear the fuel pump and the gauge needles move. When this is done, turn off the ignition, turn it back on. Under the ECU tab next to Display, hit "reset adaptation". Wait about a minute then turn it off. It wouldn't hurt to do the 12 minute tune but this just adapts the idle. It will adapt anyway after you ride it for a while.

Hook it up to a fully charged battery or a Battery Tender when reading or downloading tunes.
