I purchased a Butt Buffer pad years ago for my Trophy 1200. The pad raised me another 3/8" with an already tall seat (31"). That was tolerable. The intolerable part was how much heat the pad holds. The black-body absorbtion quality of their materials is superior to anything NASA has developed. It absorbed enough BTU's to scorch my rump in 8 miles. When you first sit on it, it's really warm, and the heat transfer just keeps coming until your bottom reaches "No Mas." At 70 mph I would stand on the pegs for about 3 miles to let the air cool my buns down. Sitting down after that distance would again start the heat transfer until I could swear it felt like I was riding my exhaust pipe. I finally took the pad off and used it for autumn and spring rides only. Comfortable it was in the morning when it was cool. The key was keeping it out of direct sunlight.
If you're getting a pad sewn into your seat, better be sure it is covered from direct sunlight or wear a bum cooler (your cheeks will thank you).
