Courtesy of jrhorton on the .net site, here are the first 4 pages of the parts list/installation instructions for the "Upgrade Kit". The text at the top of the first page (to provide an enhanced ownership experience) is interesting, it also gives the "built before" VIN number. The other 27 pages must be the install instructions, perhaps another member might gain access to that part of this "top secret" document. I feel we have a right to know what parts are being replaced, and whether they do them all or not. Without this list, we have no way of knowing. With this list, we can ask intelligent questions.
P.S. I think this should be a "sticky".

Thanks for that, interesting that the TDU cover has to be replaced as I was told that the original cover is machined wrong and is the cause of the TDU problems. It apparently is offset to the to the line of the shaft.

You have probably tried the hold pressure on the gear lever while releasing the clutch method of engaging first gear properly. First will not engage fully if you don't do this.

The only thing I can think that has happened is that first has not engaged properly and full power was applied resulting in angled drive dogs.

Sorry maybe I don't know all the facts, I was speculating as to why it would jump out of gear and this is the only reason I can think of except for a thrust washer problem. The angle would not be easy to see and would need a detailed inspection of the dogs. I hope you get the problem sorted so you can appreciate the bike.

I have never had to do that to engage first gear, mine is an early 04.

JR your dealer is at fault he should have upgraded everything while casings were apart.
Also there is obviously a problem with first gear, what kind of mechanic can strip a motor knowing the exact problem & reassemble without fixing it
I would have to voice my opinion firmly to the dealer, it is quite simple he has failed to do his job correctly.

What year and model is your rocket?

My Rocket is an 05, a demo I purchased in 08 with 1300 miles on it. At 6000 miles in 08 the camshaft chain failed and Triumph replaced head, valves & pistons, along with having the complete Upgrade kit installed. The dealer that fixed it (Winchester, no longer a dealer) gave me no documentation as to what parts were replaced. So when jrhorton wanted his documentation posted I gladly volunteered. By the way, my Rocket has 25,000 miles on it now, the only other problem was a bad TPS that was fixed by Triumph 2 months out of warranty

"Replace entire transmission and drivetrain" to solve a first gear problem what planet are they on. That is just a frightener as they do not want to touch your bike again, because fixing it is beyond their mechanics ability + why did they not fit all the parts sent. Triumph did not send them just for fun.
I think you should pursue Triumph again as one of their dealers is incompetent.
2000miles on the clock if it was not so serious it would be a joke
Does anyone have an email address for Triumph HQ over there
I think this forum should come together and bombard them with emails asking for them to do the right thing.
