UNI Underseat Air Filter

1olbull....are you using the Ramair?
I found a great youtube video on the install of the Ramair on a Rocket 3 Roadster and it looked oaks pretty strieght forward. I was surprised at the end of the install in that all you have to do is let the bike run for about 25 minuets, one cycle of the cooling fan in order to set up the system....no map needed?

I am not. Currently I run the K&N 2780s and have been interested in the Ramair, but holding off since my tuner opined the performance improvement would be moot on a stock engine.
I am now looking forward regarding air because I am seriously considering Carping my engine.

It seems like my 2012 R3R has some built in intake thing as part of the underside of the seat.

I noticed it when I took it off and replaced it with a bracket and Corbin double seat that the top of the filter enclosure would be open somewhat; compared to the original seat.

Been driving it that way for over a year with no apparent problems, and the dealer didn't say anything about it when they did my first service.

I hadn't thought about it until reading this thread, and hope I'm not messing anything up running it that way.

the underseat snorkle only restricts airflow you are better of with out it and All Rockets come with it and should be the first thing taken off even if you wanted to run a Std Air Box and filter

Not necessarily disagreeing but another school of thought is that the snorkel actually helps because it draws potentially cooler air from behind the seat rather than from the back of the engine. For what it's worth, I did remove mine when I had the stock air box set up and noticed no change either way.

Thanks....would you believe this......my wife wants me to get the bike fitted with the Carpenter racing kit, she doesn't even ride, she just thinks it's cool. Anyway before I do that I need a few more miles on the rocket

I was thinking of it but with a reports of some of the units cracking I have decided to wait and see. Given our winter weather there is no point in rushing to get it installed for a few months!

If you do decide to order one let me know, maybe we can split the shipping. I have the same thoughts as you though....wait to see what happens with the cracking.
