Very strange, I have current TuneECU on four computers. Two times on WinXP and two times on Win7.
It works absolutely reliably with the Tuneboy cable and also with the VAG cable.
Find TuneECU the interface does not?
If the should be the case, then the cable to the ECU, TuneECU start, and then plug the cable into the USB port. Possibly TuneECU close again and restart.
If Tuneboy work, then work must also TuneECU. Please do not use USB extension cable.
The problem may be the Tuneboy cable. You've written, it is a USB cable of the 1st generation, I use the cable of the second Generation.
Have you TuneECU times installed on another computer? It would be a shame if you throw in the towel.
Use an antivirus software? Some software makes since problems.
For testing purposes, uninstall the antivirus software once, only switch off is not enough.
In the Device Manager, see the image, must be selected entries present.
You may assign a different COM port.
