You might try comparing both maps to see that there is very little difference between the stock map and the TORS map - especially at part throttle.

I did. The upper end of the F tables seem to be richer in the stock tune. The L tables seem richer at the upper end in the TOR tune.

How does Triumph create these maps? I assume they have a dyno and can tune the ECU in real time.

I think your advice to load your tune is the way to go for RTorque. I thought you had done one for the Touring for slip ons.

Guess we'll know for sure in about a week. :)
I'll (hopefully) be loading a map using tuneecu as soon as my cable arrives.

Of course I'm open to any further suggestions.

Start with Tripp's R3R slip on map before you waste money on a power commander.

I have yet to figure out how Triumph performs their stock calibrations on any of their models. Their results -vs- emissions is poor. I can get better fuel mileage, better output, better response, and less emissions. And I am no rocket scientist.

On the R3T, the map I posted on this site, and on the TuneECU site is for BOTH stock and slip-on silencers. No difference in mapping because there is no difference in output. The box behind the header is the restriction.

Maybe they just do it with modeling. You would think someone who has visited Hinckley and seen their production line would have asked how they tune the bikes. My dealer was there recently and didn't say anything about tuning. Probably because Triumph doesn't want people messing with their tunes. Except their racing teams. I would think these guys have direct access to the ECU on the dyno just like we would with a power commander.

Yes, all OEMs have direct access to their ECUs. The process most call tuning is actually called calibration. Not all OEMs do it well. Kawasaki comes to mind.

So, do I calibrate my guitar? Ans: not very well, unless I use my iphone app.

You tune intake and exhaust systems just like you tune musical instruments.

Engine management systems are not guitars. They are calibrated.
A "tuner" is someone that has never started from scratch with an engine management system, and would be lost doing so.

So finally last night i got my Dave Platt short exhaust installed and i was able to load the dealer 20688 (TOR map). Fired it up for a couple seconds (11pm, neighbors not happy) and didnt notice any issues. Comparing the stock 20685 map and the TOR 20688 map, there doesnt look like much a difference. Sooo, if it doesnt storm this evening i was gonna load the R3R_Slip map from Power-Tripp and give it a go. Since the tune was developed for up to VIN # 574812 and my VIN is 574813+, do i only need to open the secondaries to 100% in all gears/rpm?

Thanks in advance

I believe you're the first to use tuneecu on a 2013. Guess I don't get to be the guinea pig after all. You have a good question though. Curious to see what Mr. Tripp says. From what I've read, the tune is already unrestricted. Not sure though.
