Tune ECU problems

I have the cable hooked up to the bike and run TECU. If I wait some time it will connect and download the current sensor data. I can move the throttle and see the TPS go up.

So now I switch to the map tab. I select ECU Download. I get some occasional flashing of a red bar in the bottom right corner and after several minutes, I get an error message saying the ECU is not responding. I'm running Windows Tablet XP

Help!

could be several things. those who have had problems may help you more than I can. I know computers so I will gladly help you, but I have never run into problems with TuneECU så I haven't had the opportunity to try out different scenarios.

first of all, Tablet XP. It is probably a good Windows, I am sure.
you don't happen to have a "real" XP near you or on a friends computer? just to be sure.

Dotnet framework, installed?

good battery on bike, on charger?
all fuses plugged in? some of us unplug the 20A head light fuse, some run into ECU problems when doing so.

What kind of Rocket do you have and what kind of tune do you think is in the rocket? a stock from Triumph or a modified by Tuneboy?

Good points you make there Leif. If it was tune boy I would say you have afailed down load or connection burp while connected o the ECU this created a alarm state (limp) I would then do a recover from failed down load even if I had to do it a few times. On tunebou you can tell this is happened as the the dash will say connected but it won't show the key and serial number of the ecu. Once recovered you just load a tune in her hit the button and off you go. Tune ecu calls it recovery Is your serial number and map number showing when you link up? I will do some reading and see if I can help any. I have the software its about time I play with it.:D

Keith, good to hear!

Scott, yeah we do what we can. ECU business isn't the easiest. good thing there are such options as "recovery" and similar or we be stuck first time..

First, make sure the battery is fully charged.

Next, I am not sure Tablet XP will work with TuneECU. I know for a fact that it will not work with several other tuning solutions. You may need to step up to a full laptop.
