Truck lite leds

So some SOB decided they wanted a "free" set of LED driving lights and headlights and stole mine the other day right outta my work parking lot in broad daylight!

So I'm thinking of trying to find a frenched trim for the 7'' light once I get my replacement. Has anyone done this before? Are all the 7'' frenched trims rings pretty much plug and play to fit any 7'' headlight? Or is there a specific one to get?

....

I might (almost) be as pi$$ed as Cherokee at this (he had already shared it with me in PM) - the total disregard for a 'fellow' biker, just disgusts me.
The fact that thief was bold enough to do this in broad daylight is just mind-blowing.

Regarding 'Frenching' - Can't see the OEM bucket being conducive for that; at least certainly not with the 7" lamp - you might be able to do something if you use a 5-3/4" lamp module (as per the size used on the Twin Headlight Classics & Roadsters) in that bigger Touring bucket

Edit - ignore that last bit - I was thinking of a traditional 'frenching' - I guess with bikes you can buy a trim ring that instead of recessing the lamp into, just extends the shell outwards for same appearance, to look like is recessed.
Lots of those on places like J & P

Was this just aesthetic plan or were you thinking might add some security (which I can't see how would)

Just for looks. The Truck Lite sticks out about an inch. I put a visor on my last one though and that looked pretty darn good. Probably do that again.

That sucks big time @Cherokee.

Out of curiosity, did the bike start without the headlight? With OEM wiring, and both headlights out on the twin light models, the engine won't run. I don't know who thought of that stupid idea.

I just put in DEcosse's keyless system on last Saturday so maybe that's why it ran? I drove home 60 miles. Luckily it was daylight still.

Perhaps sourcing screws with different head style such as security torx fro example would stop this from m happening?

That is simply not correct - not sure where you got that from.
Perhaps you are confusing - If you remove the FUSE then it won't start because the starter relay power comes from common fuse - however disconnecting the lamps (or if they were blown) will absolutely cause no issues to starting/running.
That applies to all R3 models

My Key-less system switches the circuits at exactly the same node as the OEM Key-Switch.

I was thinking similar - or even a shear bolt - makes it a pain to get off again (the whole point!) but with LEDs the requirement to get back in there again will be rare.

We had a few cases a number of years back where having both headlights blown caused the bike to not run. I'm not an auto-electrician, so don't know why, but that was the case back then. Of course, in each of those cases it could have been a coincidence with something else.
