I have been sitting here reading on this site and learning plenty. When I bought my 05 R3 I thought that the engine noise I was hearing was normal, I didn't know any better. Then I started learning about the paint can rattle on this site and others and realized I may have a problem. I read some horror stories and some happy endings and much of that seemed to have to do with the dealers. I took my bike to Baxters, 250 miles away, even tho there is another Triumph dealer 40 miles from here, (a yamaha dealer that happens to sell Triumphs too and wouldn't even let me test ride a used America the last time I was there). Anyway, I talked with Gus and he looked into it right away even tho I didn't buy the bike from them. Gus got ahold of Triumph and got the green light to fix the problem and Triumph covered the entire job. I was worried when I dropped the bike off that it might be there for a long time. Gus had it less than a week and a half and says that everything is ready to roll. Now I have to figure out how to get it back so I can at least look at it in my garage, (temps have been around zero). Thanks to Triumph, Baxters, and Gus, (not necessarily in that order but rank has its privileges), I might just be the anti-harley. I cannot imagine Harley, Yamaha, or any others backing up a 5 year old bike the way that these guys did.

Glad it all worked out for you Bonnie.
Yep, Triumph stepping up is why I bought another Rocket for the wife.
They've been better to me than harley ever was.
And Yes, Gus IS THE MAN.
He's helped me numerous times over the phone.
Never a complaint and always real knowledgable and helpful.
He sorted out my TPS problem and told me how to tell if I was getting ripped off.
He's the man.

..the paint can rattle is starting to rear it's ugly head again on my 06..the first time it started, by the time I took it to the dealer, it stopped..the service manager explained how the self tensioner worked against the timing chain.. it was ok for a while, but it's coming back again..I don't know how many times the ratcheting mechanism will take up the slack before it has to be repaired..

Do share your knowledge gained on the TPS problem and how NOT to get ripped off!!!
When you get the time of course! Thanks

**** Bonnie I drove mine from central illinois to Gus so he could check it out and he got the authorization quick as ****. I am taking her to him next week if the weather holds and the crooks at work don't buck. He is a real tech in my eyes and I would not want anyone else to touch it except me.

Bud maybe its your oils pump chain I hear it starts making noise and then stops after warming up. I also here its nothing to worry about. I am only saying this because I can't remember hearing anyone have the paint can rattle more then once.
If I am wrong I am sure someone will speak out and let you know.

Gus said he has NEVER seen the TPS secondary (on front of the fuel rails) go bad.
Its always been the primary on back of the rails that goes.
So don't pay for two.
In fact don't pay for one as Triumph is paying for it.
And now I'll add, don't get the one with black internals, make sure the internals are Blue (newer improved model).

Hi bonnie...that's great news :) one of the reasons i chose a rocket is that triumph stand by their product and what a good way to promote some customer loyalty.
I for one will buy another triumph...when the time comes
Gus and Baxters certainly seem to be the dogs dangly bits.
Anyway enjoy that rocket when you get it home.

Shoot guys. I drove 668.3 miles to get to Baxters and Gus's expertise. Worth every cent! I do highly recommend you tip him liberally. ....My suggestion only. He is Da' Man!
