Triple K&N

Can anyone identify these K&Ns? They look like 3780s but have silver fins instead of the red. I would really like to get some with the silver look as it goes better aesthetically with my R3.

They're 2780's with custom made tops and probably not oiled, thus the lack of the red look.

I'll have to check a brand new one. I don't remember ever seeing one that bright looking. I didn't think they filtered correctly without oil.

A new one will come pre-oiled. However, after cleaning, that's what they look like. And yes, they do need to be oiled.

I have some blue oil, some German brand, left over from a set of filters for a BMW. That looks good on my two tone blue R3T.

The oil no matter what color gets sucked out of the filter and in the engine if you have good exhaust if not it will just take a little longer to suck the oil out of them and white is what you will get. I think the wire cages on the Spectre filters are colored and there fore keep the colored look better. I would just not oil them and add the colored pre-filters made by Outerwaers inc. ask WillTill for a picture of his you will see he has red covers. these pre-filters can be seen thru and yet shead water great in the rains. Hell I rod my Millennium Falcon in a monsoon withthe filter out ther in the supercharger filter stuckl out there in the open and never noticed a different except when I had to slow down to 70 because the hail hurt so much

I'd be warey of using other oils with the K&N filters as the formulation may be detrimental to the filter media

The Wunderlich filter oil is designed for Wunderlich filters. They are a pleated cotton fabric as noted here:

I am quite confident that the Wunderlich oil is compatible with K&N filters.
