Hello All,
I am considering the rocket 3 roadster, just started doing some research looks like a great bike! I guess a question for all you owners is what kind of reliability can I expect from this bike 2010-2013 years. I have been spoiled by a 1999 Honda cbr 1100xx super blackbird that has never has an issue one. Any help or things to look for in a used R3 would be appreciated. Thanks

Allow me to be the first to WELCOME you!
The R3R is an awesome machine and you will be elated! :D

Welcome from Australia
I went from a Blackbird to the rocket................nil problems thus far on my 2012 brought new
That's cool... I love my BB but feel like its time for a change any comparisons other than the obvious? Thanks

Hello Vrodguy and welcome from Virginia. You asked about reliability? My 2014 R3T has 39K on it now and I have had several small issues and one big one. The big one is due in part to my lack of deep cleaning the bike; something that plagues any bike that is not well cared for. I ride in any weather except snow and that allows road grim to work its way into everywhere. That caused me problem with the throttle bodies which are expensive to replace. I do not say this to run you away but to help you learn from my mistakes in not cleaning when I should. Such a simple action can prevent a big wallet wound.

Otherwise, I love to use it for commuting and long trips by myself or two-up. It is an awesome bike all around.

Hi vrodguy and welcome from Dartmoor England !
I have a 2010 roadster and I love it . Before the rocket I was on a hayabusa and to be honest , the busa gets used no more ! !
Only advice I would give someone buying an R3 would be to research your local dealers and make sure they are familiar with the bike inside and out !
If you are a home mechanic , bear in mind the industrial size of the engine , no more technical than the Blackbird but helluva lot heavier and needing a whole array of specialist tools .
Pay particular attention to the gearbox which should be uprated 2010 onwards . Make sure the shift is positive and don't jump out of gear ! A very different feeling box than you will be used to and the most expensive fix if there are problems .
Other than that , both the Triumph Rocket Roadster and this forum will change your life ! Make you a better man , help you pick up girls and put you one step nearer to world domination ! ;) :)

05 Standard & gas, tires & oil
Yes, eats bike tires
Upgrade the headlamps! o_O

I bought a Pre-owned 2012 Roadster with about 630kms on the bike. I'm at 13,000kms now and have not had a single issue that required any servicing, the bike runs great an has been a very reliable starter and I'm very happy with it. The only issue I've had with it was when it was newer, it once stalled when I was pulling in the clutch when coming to a stop. It never happened again. I dont know how people keep saying "It eats tires" I am still on my original tires from when I bought the bike in 2013, they look like they have plenty of life left in them.

I also ride my Rocket like a grandma.
