Thinking of a Roadster

Hi Guys i'm in a wee dilemna i'm starting to clock up a few too many kilometres on my 08 touring and the wife said i should look at getting rid of it,so i tried out a 2011 roadster and was impressed but it was colder than my touring due to the lack of windscreen and the riding position wasn't quite as luxurious as the touring does it in fact grow on you or will it always piss you off?

Wondering what's a few too many kilometers equals? Me & the guys I ride with put 15k-20k miles (24k-32k kilometers) a year on our bikes and hope I didn't choose a bike that is going to crap out in just a few years of riding.

Triumph changed the riding position in 10 to a more upright seating. Once you ride it for a while you'll get use to it. I came from a Yamaha Raider which stretched you out more, but now I'm use to the R3R. There is also a full size windshield for it from triumph which should cover you as much as the R3T screen does.

Get a quilted vest for under your jacket and enjoy the extra oomph and freedon without a screen. Go for it (if you can stand the peg position).

You must be a legend Bagman as I have managed to clock up 28,000kms in 15months so bike is now up to 35,000 and if I have the wife's blessing ,I had better not look a gift horse in the mouth so to speak.

How many miles is too many? I have 62,000+ miles on my Rocket and she runs great! The 3 modern Triumphs I've owned didn't even feel good and broke in until about 40,000 miles. They just all seemed to shift much smoother at that point.

Yeah...I agree with the others...too many miles on a Touring? That's pretty lame if it only has 35,000 km's...that's not even 22,000 miles in US miles. If she says you can get a Roadster...as the others have said...don't look a gift horse in the mouth...go get it and keep the Touring.

Thats a lot of k's buzzing around En-Zud, but you Kiwis always are pretty keen riders. Would'nt be hard to find a Standard rider willing to swap footpeg set-up i reckon. Triumph quoted me $2,300 for the parts to put Roadster peg set-up on a mates Standard. Likes been said screens available.

installed a touring seat w/rider backrest,touring windscreen w/lowers,dresser bars w/highway pegs. Much more comfortable. I'm a little guy,5-9 165 with a 30 in. inseam.
