WELL as an original equipment tire for A ROCKET with 180 HP and more TRQ than any other bike I would think it underwent a lot of development

And i'm sure your'e spot on, I'm pleased to see thats whats on the bike...because it's a step up from the Metz. If you look up the Avon site under Cobra chrome,you will see....
240/50 R 16 84V
and..
150/80 R 17 72V
and..
140/75 R 17 67V

and of course many more sizes.

That depends!. In cold and even icy conditions the Metz do grip. imo however the Cobras are still inadequate for the torque and weight of an R3.
