Thats done butt...........

Maybe I have missed something but in his first post he said he had put Jardines on so why would he need the Cat delete or other gaskets except the Copper Ones in the exhaust ports which if going from a stock exhaust to Jardines DO NEED to be changed to get a proper seal,.... please correct me if I am wrong:rolleyes:

Now I'm confused.
Which gasket are we talking about?

ok ok, this is what i have done , i removed stock header pipe and exhaust and put jardines on, no cat box, it was removed with stock system.. that makes sense because i could not believe i would have missed something like that picture nolton posted i was kind of freaked:eek:.when i put the jars on i had read a post in here the gaskets were copper. so i assumed they were in those ports in the head i mentioned. now i drag race old cars traditional v8s and i put copper gaskets on my headers so i can reuse several times. but when i remove and replace airplane exhaust we can reuse 1 time for the thick copper gaskets. so i figured i would try to get away with it on my bike , kind of a gray area in mechanics so some do some dont i might, because i have a slight tiny leak but i will retorque first and see what happens:cool: thanks guys for the guidance i appreciate it..:)

So...... we are not talking about a Boss Hoss or Pratt & Whitney?

Ah but there lie the problem these copper gaskets are not a solid thick gasket which can be annealed and reused these are folded CRUSH style copper gasket which seal by being crushed to the shape and irregularities in the header pipe surface and the port surface so unless you are putting the exact same header back on you will create mineute leaks unless you buy one of those crude expanding exhaust sealant pastes..... Me I would rather put a new one in and have a proper seal to start with :)

you are correct Hanso we anneal and reuse. so these gaskets you speak of are a copper crush gaskets. well then new gaskets it is:D so where does everybody order from online? or do i have to order parts from a dealer?

I don't know about over there but here it is actually cheaper for me to buy from over there (including shipping) I use North County Yamaha (Triumph and Polaris dealer as well) So Cal ph# 760 432 9501 they always been Great to deal with and are cheaper than other dealers I checked Out.
I hope this helps you out:cool:

NCY are excellent and good buying for us Downunder because they're on the west coast. Long way from Ohio though. Maybe one of your compatriots can give a steer closer to home although NCY are the cheapest I've found anywhere and service is flawless.

The Parts guys are pretty good guys at NCY. I bought my 2009 R3T(new) from them less than a year ago and fortunately they are about 3 miles from my house. I'll be dropping off cream puff in the morning to have a water pump gasket replaced. Very very small leak but hey 2500 miles and 6 years of warranty left there is no sense in me fixing it.
