I spent about 150 miles on britman's bike last Friday. I don't like the tire. It feels like you're in a constant crosswind blowing in either direction. It might be the way I ride. I weight my hands. That exacerbated the issue greatly. When I relaxed my arms, it wasn't as bad. Old habits die hard and I was right back to weighting my arms and back to imaginary cross winds. It was controllable. Just irritating.
Absolutely! A thousand miles minimum.
The contact patch is on the order of 300% or more than stock. Crowned and banking straightaways require a presence of mind. However, finding the sweat spot only takes a moment of fully aware status. The degree of increased confidence in not breaking traction and the ability to put all that power into motion is ultra magnified with all that ground patch. And at a small fraction of the cost that dogma will lead you.
Economics lead me, primarily, to the darkside but tha grins are never ending after you've been here for awhile. Now if you're repeatedly carving corners daily it's not for you!. A captain in Colorado has returned to the light. And apparently Blob is going to finalize his decision on a trip around the block It's not for everyone.
You might double check the width, with a 225/50 I have about a 1/2" clearance between the tire and the driveshaft. your getting close. YOUR DEALER WILL MOUNT THE DARKSIDE Hats off to your dealer. or you better check to makle sure, most bail out by sayin it a liabilaty issue.
Roger that- 10mm wider = 5mm on each side thats about 1/4". all puns aside they are round figures and what works out on a caculator doesn't exactly mean thats what you get. I measured my "Mounted and inflated" 225/50 at 79" the worn (no wear bars yet) metz at 80" before I removed it.
I just went out and measured (it's not an easy place to measure) but I took a 3/8" breaker bar and I could just squeeze it in between the tire and the driveshaft. (the 3/8" end). the actual clearance depends on the profile of your tire. My Goodyear has what the call a rim protector so a portion of the tire sticks out from the bead area. This may make mine a little wider overall. I haven't paid that close attention and am not sure if any other Captains have tried your tire. The other side is I may just smoke a while and then things will be OK.. Keep us posted
Best of Luck
